Lake Smelt Ice Fishing

Lake smelt ice fishing

“Lake smelt ice fishing” is a feature of winter in Lake Abashiri-ko Memanbetsu-kohan. You first chop a hole in the ice and drop a line into the hole to fish. If the timing is right, you can fish one right after the other so that you even forget about the cold.
Rental fishing rods and hook rigs are available. It’s easy to try, so just bring yourself and enjoy.
With the lake smelts you fish, you can make tempura or fried fish.
